Sebastian Camilo Toro Henao Leads Mini Main Event
The $1,100 Mini Main Event crushed its $1 million guarantee with 1,127 entrants to generate a tasty $1,127,000 prize pool. Each of the opening flights played down to just 15 percent of the field leaving just 169 players heading into today’s Day 2.
Each of the opening flights allowed for 1 re-entry during the first nine levels. Players were given plenty of time to build a stack with long 25-minute blind levels.
Sebastian Camilo Toro Henao will head into Day 2 with the chip lead after he parlayed his opening stack of 1 million in chips in Saturday’s Day 1a into a massive stack of 27,039,049 in chips.
Two-time WSOP champion Elio Fox (25,419,260) is the closest player on Henao’s tail after virtually bagging the biggest stack on Sunday’s Day 1b. Luciano Hollanda (23,000,730) and Patrick Blye (22,663,403) were the only two other players to end an opening flight over the weekend with at least 20 million in chips.
Other players heading into Day 2 near the top of the leaderboard include Thomas Boivin (18,388,054), Joseph Cheong (17,118,762), William Kassouf (16,075,000), Espen Uhlen Jorstad (13,730,257), and Dominik Nitsche (12,483,080).

The MILLIONS Online festival has gotten off to a flying start with the Mini Main Event obliterating its $1 million guarantee. A massive crowd of 1,127 players bought in across a pair of starting flights and only 169 of those starters remain in the hunt for the $184,507 top prize.

Sebastian Henao finds himself in the envious position of going into Day 2 as the tournament’s chip leader. The Mexico-based grinder is armed with 27,039,049 chips and must fancy his chances of taking down this event from this position.
Victory will not be an easy task because there are some exceptional players in the chasing pack.
Elio Fox is one of those superstars. Fox, also grinding from Mexico, has 25,419,260 chips in his stack and will have a major say in where this title ends up. The two-time WSOP bracelet winner has almost $10 million in live tournament winnings and more than $4.5 million from the online poker world.
Daria Krashennikova flying high in the MILLIONS Online Mini Main Event
Slightly further down the chip counts, you find Canada’s Patrick Blye (22,663,403) who is riding the crest of a wave having won the APAT WCOAP Main Event last weekend for $27,408. He’s guaranteed another $2,105 right now but he definitely has an eye on the top prize.
Also in the top 10 chip counts at the start of Day 2 are Thomas Boivin (18,388,054) and Russian starlet Daria Krashennikova (17,750,348). As are British high stakes cash guru Tom Macdonald (17,618,322) and Joseph Cheong (17,118,762).
Stellar Names Litter The Field
Those players are joined by some of the game’s biggest names. Such luminaries as Will Kassouf (16,075,000), Dominik Nitsche (12,483,080), Tom Middleton (11,180,475), and Mike Sexton Classic champion Daniel Dvoress (7,917,694) are all still in contention for glory.
As are the likes of Justin Bonomo (6,362,236), David Peters (6,325,618), Kelly Saxby (5,313,311), David Yan (4,882,878), Ami Barer (3,473,910), Roberto Romanello (3,305,634), Hristovoje Pavlovic (2,255,971), and Mike Watson (915,478).
Play resumes at 19:05 GMT on February 15 and continues until the 169 returning players are whittled to the final table of nine. Each of those finalists will then be guaranteed $14,826 and will be eight eliminations away from a $184,507 score.

Sheldon Adelson: How the Legend Affected Poker and Intertops Login

3 mins read

Sheldon Adelson, an American businessman – and billionaire – died on January 11, 2021. At the age of 87, he lost his battle with cancer, after almost two years of treatments. And while Adelson owned many businesses, he will be mostly remembered for his involvement in the gambling industry.Over the years, the casino mogul took live gambling to an entirely new level. However, it was clear he wasn’t a big fan of online poker. How did this tycoon influence the industry? And what could he possibly have said to influence Intertops login options and online betting in general? Let’s take a closer look at the man’s history and involvement with poker.Adelson’s Career and Early LifeSheldon Gary Adelson was born in 1933 in Boston, and from a young age, it was clear he had an eye for business. At the age of 12, he began selling newspapers, which turned into a passion of his further down the line. After serving in the US Army, Adelson started various businesses, some more successful than others. He tried his luck in travel, hotel toiletries, and mortgage banking. But his first major success came when he helped build the Interface Group with several partners, launching the highly successful COMDEX. Soon enough, the technology trade show became one of the largest in the field, and Adelson helped run it smoothly till it was sold in 1995.His next project included venturing into the gambling industry, and in 1999, he opened the Venetian Resort Hotel Casino. Slowly but surely, it turned into a highly popular gambling resort. Later on, Adelson had the chance to expand his businesses in Macau, which is a beloved gambling destination for travelers. One casino turned into two, then three, and before he knew it – Adelson was in charge of a billion-dollar empire. In September 2020, Adelson was listed by Forbes as the 28th richest person in the world, with a net worth of $33.8 billion. A big chunk of that came from his share in the gambling empire, which was worth approximately $14 billion at the time of his death.Adelson’s Influence on Online PokerWhile Adelson opened many land-based casinos both in the US and abroad, he wasn’t a big supporter of online gambling. In fact, when the DOJ announced the Wire Act didn’t apply to online betting (under Obama’s administrations), the casino mogul did his best to fight that decision. He founded the Coalition to Stop Internet Gambling, trying to promote the Restoration of America’s Wire Act (RAWA) with little success. Later on, he supported multiple Republican presidential candidates, which were more likely to adopt his views on online betting. After spending a lot of money on the issue, he got some support from Trump’s administration, as the DOJ went back to its original stance on the Wire Act a few years ago.But while his campaigns against online gambling left a lot of players disheartened by his actions, there is no ignoring all the good things he did. According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Adelson donated millions of dollars to multiple causes. He supported wounded soldiers and contributed a lot to the fight against drug addiction – matters that were close to his heart. In ConclusionEven though Adelson campaigned against online gambling, he still deserves respect for all he was able to achieve in his life.

Moves to Open Gambling, Lottery in Hawaii Reach Roadblocks

3 mins read

Usually when someone asks if gambling will ever be legalized across the States of America, there has always been two holdouts that would prevent it. Utah, being the home of the Mormon Church, has banned any type of gambling inside the state’s borders, even lotteries. Hawaii used to be the other state in that answer, but there are moves to open the islands for gambling and lottery sales that are currently at a roadblock.

Casino, Lottery Sales in Legislation

According to Dan Nakaso of the Honolulu Star-Adviser, the chances of a bill passing through the Hawaii House of Representatives took several blows last week. There were three bills that had been proposed by State Representative Sean Quinlan, who chairs the House Economic Development Committee. The three bills would have each addressed a different area of gaming in the Aloha State.

The first was House Bill 383, which would have created a state-run poker commission that would have jurisdiction over live poker rooms in the state. The second was House Bill 772, which would have allowed for the building of a casino at the Hawaii Convention Center that would only be accessible by players who had stayed in an Oahu hotel. Finally, there was House Bill 736, which would have given the framework for digital sports betting (mobile).

The Senate also had their own bills floating around their chambers. Senate Bill 816 would have created the ability for the state to facilitate a lottery that would have begun in January 2022. The bill passed out of the Senate Education Committee, but it was amended by the chairwoman of the committee, Senator Michelle Kidani, to take effect in January 2023 instead. An additional casino proposal in the Senate, Senate Bill 1321, is also on the table, but has yet to pass out of committee.

What Would be the Impact of Legalized Gaming on Hawaii? If you are looking at just the residents of Hawaii, gaming might not be significantly impactful. With only 1.42 million residents, they are barely above the size of Delaware (a state which has a multitude of gaming operations) and less than Nevada. With this said, a study showed that there are 500,000 trips from Hawaii to Las Vegas every year, a sizeable amount of traffic that cannot be ignored.

The real draw of gaming in Hawaii would be the tourism industry. Over seven million people visit the Hawaiian Islands on a yearly basis simply for what the islands have to offer now. While there might be a decrease in some areas of tourism if casino gaming were allowed (people wouldn’t be taking the sightseeing trips and other accoutrements), having casino gaming and other options available could raise significant revenues.

There is a downside of the situation, however, and it is something that we have been dealing with for the past year – COVID. Already dependent on tourism for much of their revenues, why would Hawaii commit to another arena that is driven by people gathering in an area and potentially get sick? The moves by the bicameral legislature in Hawaii are significant in that they are examining the issue of gaming heavily. But even those in charge say that there is no possibility of passage of these laws, at least in 2021. The discussion is there, however, so it may be something that nobody has any control over as to when it will happen – the passage of time and the acceptance of gaming in the state.

Day 100 – Woot! Woot!😊

2 mins read

Today is an important day for me. Day 100. I don’t like to post in the mornings, usually, because I haven’t made it through the day yet. Today is different, I KNOW that I won’t gamble today. Period. It’s only fitting that it lands on Valentine’s Day, because this has been a journey of learning how to love myself. It’s been a battle and some days the journey is harder than others, but I’ve made it. I think about the damage that I wrought over years and years, and then I look at the progress that I’ve made in these past three months and it’s amazing. I will preface by saying that my husband and I are extremely lucky, we are both essential workers and our income hasn’t been harmed by the Pandemic. I will say, though, my gambling beat all for emptying out our finances. Now, after three months of better choices our bank account needs a comma. It requires a comma. The debt is still there. But I’m slowly whittling that down. I would love to throw all of my new found liquidity at the debt. But I’m learning about the value of money again. I’m learning about the slow build of money; about saving and earning. Tonight I’m going to cook a kick ass Valentine’s dinner for my husband. We’ll eat and relax and I won’t feel like the entire meal is a massive apology for all of my fuck-ups. Every day can really feel like a challenge in the beginning, but it gets easier. It does. Remember, though, that addiction comes from some place. Gambling is a coping skill, an unhealthy coping skill, but a coping skill. Unless you are willing to find out what you are coping with and develop other, healthy coping skills, the shadow will always be lurking over you. Now I can see the shadow, but know to turn on another light. submitted by /u/punkrain [comments]

WPT GTO Trainer Hands of the Week: Battling the Big Blind

3 mins read

February 14, 2021
LearnWPT

With a 100 big blind effective stack, you open-raise to 3bbs in the Cutoff seat and get called by the player in the Big Blind.
This scenario shows a common spot where you are in position against a tough opponent in the Big Blind on the flop after you were the preflop aggressor.
Against a less-skilled opponent automatically c-betting a standard size is often the best play. These types of opponents are less likely to put pressure on your c-bets by making moves on the flop.

Against tougher players you’ll need to focus on board texture to determine the best continuation bet sizing and identify flops where checking behind will be the best play. Generally you can use smaller c-bet sizes on dry, static flops that don’t have many equity changing turn cards. For example, larger c-bet sizing is not required on a flop of rainbow.
On more coordinated boards that still favor you as the raiser, such as with a flush draw, you can use a larger c-bet sizing. Tough opponents will have robust check-raising ranges as part of their overall Big Blind Defense strategy, so be aware of not over folding hands with too much equity when your c-bet gets check-raised.
You will often be put to tough decisions with marginal hands, with the correct decision often coming down to understanding the effects of blockers. If you hold cards that interfere with your opponent’s ability to have strong hands, you should be more likely to call down in the hand. If your cards interfere with their ability to have bluffs, you should be more likely to fold.

Poker Lifestyle, responsible gaming

Poker Tips by George: Play with Responsibility

4 mins read

Gambling is an important factor in the game of poker. It is risking something of value (usually money) in the hope of gaining a reward. While skilled poker players tend to do better overall, luck is an inherent part of the game. Good players realize they cannot control luck – good or bad; but they have learned to influence it to their benefit. This, by contrast, is not possible with slots or many other casino games, the kinds of which you’d play at sites like www.svenskaonlinecasino.info. While those games can be just as enjoyable as poker to many people, they’re essentially completely luck-based, whereas poker undoubtedly features numerous elements of skill.
Because of the gambling aspect, however, some poker players are perpetual losers. And a significant number of those will unfortunately go off the deep end to become habitual gamblers, getting themselves into all sorts of difficult situations and problems. This happens often enough so that, over the years, several non-profit groups have been organized to help people fight off compulsive gambling. Even so, remember that it is your responsibility as a player. Like any adult, you are accountable for your actions – only you.

A compulsive (pathological) gambler is a person who cannot resist his impulses that can lead to ruining his life and sometimes to a life of crime. As a result, he is likely to suffer many personal and financial problems. Compulsive gambling is regarded as a mental disorder leading to continuing impulsive gambling despite the negative physical, psychological, and social consequences. He is preoccupied with gambling, spending more and more time and money on it, and chasing his growing losses. He has a gambling problem!
Responsible Gambling Guidelines
Published by the National Council on Problem Gambling, a set of guidelines is available to help susceptible poker players and compulsive gamblers to overcome their problem. These guidelines include the following, to which I will add my comments:

If you are a loser, try to think of the money you lose as part of your entertainment. Set a dollar limit and stick to it. It may take some self-discipline and self-control, but it is worth the effort.
Win or lose, set a time limit for playing your game, and stick to it.
Do not borrow money to play. If you cannot afford it, do not play.
Do not let gambling interfere with your home life, or become a substitute for family, friends, or your career.
Do not chase losses. Chances are you will lose even more trying to recoup your losses. (For that matter, while playing poker, be sure that your cards offer plenty of outs after the flop – six or more, so you do not chase during the hands you play.)
Never use gambling as a way to cope with emotional or physical pain. Do not play if pain is disturbing you during the game. It is important to focus on the game and your opponents.
Know the warning signs of problem gambling and listen to their message. Is it time to quit for the day?

It is your responsibility!

Join the Natural8 Lunar New Year Celebrations With Lucky 8s

3 mins read

February 14, 2021
Matthew Pitt

Natural8 is celebrating the Lunar New Year with the Lucky 8s cash games promotion between February 12 and February 26. it’s a fun cash game focussed promo that revolves around pocket eights. Eight is, of course, the lucky number in Chinese culture.
$10,000 worth of cash prizes are waiting to be won by Natural8 players in the Lucky 8s promotion. You earn leaderboard points each and every time you are dealt pocket eights as your hole cards.
Natural8 awards you six points for being dealt pocket eights in any Hold’em, Short Deck or Rush & Cash Hold’em cash game. An additional three points are awarded if you win the hand with those “snowmen” and an extra bonus point is given if you show your hand.
AoF Hold’em players receive seven points for finding pocket eights in the hold, plus an additional three points for winning the hand.
Lucky 8s Tiers
There are eight tiers to the Lucky 8s promotion – why would there be any other number? – with your cash reward increasing when you climb to the next tier.
